St. Marks Episcopal Church

Architecturally distinctive and culturally significant, this century old historic wood frame church is one of very few Norwegian style stave wood churches in America.

After a devastating fire, RCDolner was brought in to underpin the foundation and lower the basement floor slab; recreate the original main entrance and five of the original, ornate timber trusses of old growth New Hampshire yellow pine; restore and recreate original pews and the altar; and install new and upgraded, sprinkler, air conditioning, plumbing, sound and lighting systems.

Tiffany stained glass windows were removed for restoration, and then reinstalled. The entire cedar shingle roof, also destroyed by the fire, was completely replaced.

During this challenging and sensitive restoration, direct dealings with representatives of the Church, community, town council, fire and police authorities were required.

RCDolner provided the necessary personnel, documentation and respect to their varying needs, which made the recovery from this unfortunate disaster complete.
